Having previously worked as an investment banker, Meg Cannel is now one of Boston's top fitness instructors. Teaching formats such as boot camp and barre at some of the most established gyms in our Hub, Cannel truly radiates a passion for health and wellness fitness land fitness land.

So let's get to know this Boston fitness pro. After all, she can coach you to sprint faster fitness land, squat lower and possibly get into a split. Talk about versatility fitness land.
Caroline Earle: Having a previous career as an investment banker, fitness land what made you switch to working in the fitness field full-time fitness land?

Meg Cannel: Passion — there really is no other reason fitness land fitness land.

I can’t remember a time in my life absent of movement. Before I knew it as such, fitness land fitness was a part of my everyday life — starting with gymnastics early on and then eventually competitive figure skating. The competitiveness had me wanting to do everything it took to be the best athlete including eating healthy and cross-training; when I was off the ice, I was already experimenting with polymeric, Pilates, yoga and I shamelessly wore out my box-set of Tae Bo VHS tapes.

I carried all of this with me through college and into my banking days fitness land.

I worked in Investment Banking for five years fitness land, which seems like a short amount of time for all that I learned about finance and hard work and people and even myself fitness land. I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything, but when it came time for a real change (the obvious choice being business school), fitness land I couldn’t let go of the idea of choosing to make my passion into my career fitness land.

I took the leap four years ago and everything just clicked — I am confident that I am finally doing what I am meant to do for my career and for everyone I am able to connect with through my teaching.

CE: Let's face it, no day is ever the same when you're a fitness pro. What is your favorite part about teaching fitness land?
MS: I feel really lucky that I get to teach two totally different types of classes every day — the variety keeps my daily routine fresh and fun fitness land.
In a Barry’s class, it is so great to see people surprise themselves with how fast and strong they really are — I watch people week in and week out learn to trust themselves with faster speeds and heavier weights.
In a barre class, my favorite moments happen when my teaching helps someone understand a position or a movement. I love helping people really get why the positions in a barre class work the way they do — when I see the light bulb go off in an inch of movement or a little adjustment, it makes my day!

In both cases, the absolute best part is witnessing people becoming empowered and confident outside the studio because of their commitment in the studio fitness land. I am inspired by every single person who challenges himself/herself in my classes. No matter the level, they motivate me to challenge myself in my own workouts fitness land.

CE: We already raided your fridge, but are there any sweet or salty splurges that you allow yourself?

fitness land
MS: I make an effort to eat clean and dairy-free on a regular basis. With that said, I am a believer in moderation - it can help anyone stay on track fitness instructors, especially if it is a deliberate and thoughtful treat/deviation. I am a sucker for pizza and a nice red wine — preferably paired together with good company and sweatpants.

CE: Morning riser or night owl? Have you always been this way or did working in fitness change you fitness instructors?

MS: You can ask anyone who knows me, I am and have always been an early bird (my roommates from college still moan about it)! I even give myself a ‘no alarm’ morning every Wednesday and I usually bounce out of bed with the sun fitness instructors.

I love mornings, no matter where I am — the city ,fitness instructor training the beach or the ‘blurbs - being up early let’s me reflect a little and set the tone for my day before the rest of the world seems to get busy fitness instructor training.
Although the pre-dawn alarm clock is still kind of tough when I teach those 6:00 a.m.  classes fitness instructors, nothing beats being up and out to watch the sun rise over a snoozing city fitness land.
CE: Is there any studio or fitness class in Boston you're dying to try out fitness land?

MS: Yes!! There’s always something I’m wanting to try — that’s actually how I discovered Barry’s two years ago in NYC (I tend to turn any NYC trip into a workout adventure — squeezing in as many classes as I can in between whatever obligation I’m really there for) fitness instructors.

In Boston, I’ve had boxing on my mind for a couple of months now and I NEED to get myself to a class. Both The Club by George Foreman III and Peter Welch’s Gym are on my radar fitness instructors.

CE: Loaded questions. Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years fitness instructor training?

MS: I live and work under the motto that I am forever learning fitness instructors. Not only from trainings or certifications, but I learn something from every single class that I teach fitness instructors.

I think the only way to keep up with the evolution of the fitness and wellness industries is to stay hungry in this way. In the next five years, I’m looking forward to continuing my journey with Barry’s Boot camp, fitness instructors Exhale and North End Yoga — I am very lucky to be able to represent these amazing studios that I truly believe are the BEST in their respective arenas fitness instructors fitness instructor training.

I also want to stay eager in knowing all that fitness land I can about the mind, fitness instructors body and movement and let that inspire me to be a better teacher fitness instructors  fitness land.
